HAIR CHRONICLES: Mermaid.

I've tried pink, multi-toned purple and platinum blonde. While I thought I could not get any more adventurous with my hair color, my hairdresser, Angelo Falconi III gives me another hair adventure that I thought I only could dream of! The thought of this blue hue kinda scared me at first... would I be able to pull it off? And of course, after Angelo did his work... I was just in utter amazement (as always!) I was confident I could rock this look!!! I just loved it!

A few days after Angelo worked his magic, we brainstormed and thought that this look would be so fitting for a mermaid themed shoot for The Angelo Falconi III Salon website and ads. I designed the beaded bra and jeweled handpiece for this and it was so much fun to be working with Eunice of Purple Dot Photography for this shoot. Her images are super fab and she is so easy to work with!

As a child, I remember being asked what I wanted to be when I grow up. With all my innocence, I seriously said, "I want to be a Mermaid!" My parents never let me forget my silly childhood dream. To this day, they still tease me about it. But I admit I had and still have a great fascination for these mythical creatures. I just think there is so much beauty in the images that they depict. This childhood fascination of mine has indeed carried over to adulthood and my design aesthetic as a jewelry designer is often inspired by mermaids.

As a brand ambassador for Angelo Falconi III Salon Professionals, this particular shoot made me feel even luckier to be endorsing the salon! (Not that I don't feel super lucky already!) I guess my silly childhood dream could come true... even just for a day. Or maybe a couple of months... since I'm keeping this hair color for awhile! =)

So what do you think of my mermaid look? Scroll down for more images from Purple Dot! =)

FOOD: Yummy Mummys Celebrate My Birthday!

This may come as a late post as I celebrated my birthday last September. Sorry, I've been THAT busy! Despite how late this post is, I hope you enjoy reading on how I celebrated my birthday with my friends with a cooking party! If you haven't read about our cooking parties, you can read about our first party, here and our second one, here.

Usually there are three of us - Me, Kathy and Dianne. But since it was my birthday and because my birthday is SPECIAL (chos!), we were joined by three more! JP, the doctor chef, Dana, the pastry chef and Dar, our assistant chef. Our cooking party is indeed more fun with more participants!

I decided to make a Ground Beef and Lettuce Lumpia. Kathy made Tinapa Lumpia while Dianne made some Cinnawich. Our new recruits, JP, made Seafood Pasta and Dana made some yummy Apple Pie.

Cooking is so much fun with friends!

"Hot Doc" goes to work!

Now here are our creations:
My Lettuce Lumpia
Kathy's Tinapa Lumpia
Dianne's Cinnawich
JP's Seafood Pasta
Dana's Special Apple Pie! How cute is that?!

I'm a happy Birthday Girl! They surprised me with cake and pancit too! =) Love my friends!
Thank you!!! =)
Plus, leaving the party with new knowledge of easy to prepare recipes is the best part!

Us all - Dar, Me, Dana
Dianne, Kathy, JP

As always, at the end of my Cooking Party posts, here is one of our recipes I'd like to share with you.

Lettuce Lumpia

Ingredients:
Fresh Lettuce Leaves
1 1/2 Kilo Ground Pork
3 pcs. Chopped Carrots
Oyster Sauce
Hoisin Sauce

Instructions:
1. Cook Ground Pork, Add Carrots and a bit of Oyster Sauce.
2. Wash lettuce leaves
3. Line lettuce leaves with Hoisin Sauce and put cooked Ground Pork mixture inside. Just enough to allow the lettuce leaves to roll up. Secure with toothpick if needed.

That's it! EASY right? Healthy too! Try it! =)

MAKEOVER: Almagrace

A couple months ago, I had a Blog Contest in cooperation with Purple Dot Photography. Winner gets a head to toe makeover from me and a photoshoot featuring the new look courtesy of talented lady photographer, Eunice Vallesteros of Purple Dot Photography. You can read about the feature and blog contest here.

The lucky winner was Almagrace Elvambuena. A med student whose personal style is quite simple. I like her personality... very soft spoken, down to earth and kind. The day I met her, I was so happy that she was the winner (chosen randomly) Almagrace is a good student with good grades and a very busy schedule...  I felt that she deserved this makeover!

I gave Almagrace two looks. One to suit her personality, very sweet and bubbly and another one where I glammed her up and gave her a look she is not used to. Despite the new look, Almagrace rocked it! Check out her before and after photo:

We certainly enjoyed shooting Almagrace! I took some behind the scenes shots and some goofy shots, too.
Check out all of Almagrace's fabulous makeover photos below! =)
